App Laboratory – Meta’s official solution for non-store content (February 2021)

Oculus App Laboratory is the program Meta uses to send out content outside the Oculus Store. It allows users to easily mount non-Store articles on their Quest headsets.

Iphone app Lab performs like a sideloading system, but doesn’t require programmers to submit their content pertaining to review and approval. Rather, developers can send users unlisted software links, from which they can add the content to their Mission library.

The app can be described as beefed-up version of the one released for the purpose of Oculus Proceed, and it has over 1 million “VR videos” that let you look around in 360 degrees. Although many of them aren’t very complete, they’re still a nice way to achieve VR without spending a lot of time in the headset.

Parental Supervision – Parents can control their teens’ use of the Quest by permitting parental administration from the Oculus companion software on iOS devices. The app lets you monitor their activity, see a list of all activities, and manage options.

Content Recommendations – Oculus’ content guidelines apply to equally App Lab and the Ouverture Shop, so it’s important that your software and games adhere virtual data rooms to these people. Oculus incorporates a very tough curation policy and planning to approve something that doesn’t meet their requirements.
